DATELINE NIGERIA: Allegation of election malpratice in parts of the Country

Ijaw national leader and former Information Minister, Chief Edwin Clark, has called for the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Delta State over alleged romance of some of his officials with some candidates prior to Saturday’s National Assembly election in the state.

According to a petition to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, a copy made available to the Press, the elder statesman alleged huge electoral malpractices perpetrated by the officials before and during the election in the state.

He alerted the INEC boss on the activity of a young lady, who was said to be an INEC employee, carrying a list of returning officers for three local government areas in Delta North senatorial district where she entered votes allocated to certain candidates even when election was yet to hold.

Chief Clark said he received information from a senatorial candidate in Delta North about the action of the INEC employee.
